Trees to be planted near “assembly tree”

March 6, 2009

IPOH, 6 March 2009: The Pakatan Rakyat (PR) coalition in Perak will plant five trees near the tree under which the emergency sitting of the state legislative assembly was held on 3 March.

Pantai Remis assemblyperson Nga Kor Ming said the tree-planting ceremony would be held at 11am to commemorate the first anniversary of the coalition’s victory in Perak on 8 March.

He told a news conference at the Perak DAP office here that the event would be officiated by embattled Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin, and Ipoh Timur Member of Parliament Lim Kit Siang would also be present.

The five trees will symbolise the PR’s motto namely justice, trustworthiness, transparency, credibility and welfare, Nga said.

He added that the site could become a tourist attraction due to its “historical significance.” — Bernama

I agree with the ritual of planting trees to commemorate this day in history of mankind especially for the Malaysians. Our grandchildren and great grandchildren will remember that even the tree listens to us, gathers us together no matter who we are and provides us with shade to speak for truth and justice, and nothing can prevent us from doing so.
