Six companies under MB Inc profitable

March 12, 2009

SHAH ALAM, 12 March 2009: Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim disclosed today that six companies under Menteri Besar Inc (MB Inc) posted profits while three others suffered losses for the financial year 2008.

Kumpulan Darul Ehsan Bhd had a profit of RM27.8 million, Permodalan Negeri Selangor Bhd (RM19.2 million), the Selangor State Investment Centre Bhd (RM1.1 million), the Pendidikan Industri Yayasan Selangor Bhd (RM6.1 million), MSNS Holdings Sdn Bhd (RM246,654) and Kumpulan Semesta Sdn Bhd (RM2.5 million).

The three companies that registered losses were Rantaian Mesra Sdn (RM151,240), Tourism Selangor Sdn Bhd (RM35,038) and Bukit Beruntung Golf and Country Resort Bhd (RM186,219).

Abdul Khalid said this in a reply to a question from Haniza Mohamed Talha (PKR- Taman Medan) at the 12th Selangor legislative assembly here today, on the number of companies under the MB Inc and their profit and loss status.

He said: “The companies posting losses will undergo management, administration and promotional restructuring. However, if they continue to suffer losses, we will review if they need to close down operations.” — Bernama

Good move. This is the first time I saw the publication of government-owned bodies declare their profit-loss report. This is the government that the RAKYAT like to have. Thanks to Tan Sri for giving a good example to other state governments.
