Roads to be closed for Penanti nominations

May 21, 2009

PENANG, 21 May 2009: Several roads will be closed from 6am to 1pm on 23 May, the nomination day for the Penanti state by-election.

Penang Traffic staff officer DSP Wari Kiew said the closure was to ensure smooth nominations for the by-election, which would be held at the National Youth Skills Institute in Bukit Mertajam near here.

The roads affected are Jalan Berapit in front of the Berapit Chinese cemetery and the Jalan Berapit-Jalan Mengkuang junction, he told a news conference.

He said police would provide three car parking areas with the capacity of 6,000 cars near the nomination centre.

The parking areas are near the Berapit Chinese cemetery, along the Butterworth-Kulim Expressway and near the Mengkuang dam.

He urged members of the public to fully cooperate with the police to facilitate traffic movement.

Cars which obstruct traffic would be towed away, he said. — Bernama

OK cool, so the police can have another all expenses paid holiday in Penang. Cool. Pearl will be jumping for joy. Another killing.

I just hope they don’t forget to buy some buah pala and jeruk when they balik kampung.

And we the people pay for it with our hard earned cash.

PM’s way of thanking people loyal to Umno.
