Perak assembly secretary “acted correctly”

March 3, 2009

PUTRAJAYA, 3 March 2009: Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan said today the Perak legislative assembly secretary acted correctly in declaring that the assembly’s emergency sitting called by the Speaker was illegal.

Mohd Sidek said Abdullah Antong Sabri was only discharging his responsibilities.

“If a public officer is acting in accordance with the law, then he or she has acted rightly,” he said when asked to comment on the issue today.

Abdullah issued a statement on Sunday that Speaker V Sivakumar’s decision to call for this morning’s emergency sitting was illegal as it did not get the consent of the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Azlan Shah.

Yesterday, Sivakumar suspended Abdullah for not carrying out his duties professionally.

Earlier, Mohd Sidek presented the National Institute of Public Administration (Intan) Fellow 2008 to his predecessor Tan Sri Samsudin Osman as well as diplomas to 828 graduates. — Bernama

This is the issue of many government officials who say things not of their expertise. Dot simply comment when you don’t have the slightest understanding of the matter. KSN makes things worse.

This guy is now not apolitical and jumped into the fray of “politics” to justify his cronies’ action.

As a top civil servant, I hope that he does not take sides and keeps quiet as all are paid by the rakyat.

To stop this sandiwara in Perak orchestrated by Najib et al, just dissolve the assembly and let the Perakians decide!
