Mukhriz accepts Umno Youth decision

March 26, 2009

KUALA LUMPUR, 25 March 2009: Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir, who lost in the election for the Umno Youth head post today, said he accepted the defeat with an open heart.

“In any contest there will certainly be a loser, and when the fight is three-cornered, two will certainly lose.

“Today, I was one of the losers. This is not the first time that I’ve lost … in Kubang Pasu (Kedah) in 2004, I lost in the contest (for Youth division head),” he told reporters shortly after the announcement of the results of the Umno Youth election, here tonight.

Khairy Jamaluddin won the three-cornered fight when he polled 304 votes, beating Mukhriz who only received 232 votes and former Selangor menteri besar Datuk Seri Mohd Khir Toyo who had 254 votes.

Mukhriz congratulated Khairy, saying that he would learn from the experience in the contest for the Umno Youth top post.

He said he would continue his political struggle as “I am still a party man.”

“I still think that I may have some small things to contribute to the party and I will try my best,” he added. — Bernama

Umno is pretty much screwed now.

The one who won shouldn’t even be contesting in the first place. Corruption is corruption.
