Ku Li refutes Bernama report

April 11, 2009

KUALA LUMPUR, 11 April 2009: Umno veteran Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah has denied a Bernama report that claims he supports the new cabinet under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

“Bernama quoted me (yesterday, 10 April 2009) as hailing the new cabinet and saying it ‘could solve the country’s economic problems’.

“This is a laughable misrepresentation of what I said, and a poor indication of the more open and truthful information order we are told we can look forward to,” the Gua Musang Member of Parliament said on his blog early this morning.

Razaleigh said he was calling a press conference at his office this afternoon to discuss his actual view of the cabinet, the economy, and what the recent by-elections mean.

In Bernama‘s report yesterday, it said that Tengku Razaleigh hailed the new cabinet, calling it “neat” and capable of restoring the people’s confidence in the Barisan Nasional.

The report quoted Tengku Razaleigh as saying, in Gua Musang, that the new cabinet would be able to strengthen the country’s economy despite the current global economic downturn.

It also quoted him as saying the new leadership should be given the opportunity to bring changes.

Bernama is doing its job as BN’s propaganda agency.

What are you saying; a government tax-funded agency should be neutral? You certainly do not live in Malaysia.

Well, the news spin is to be expected of a media controlled by the BN government. So it is good to hear Ku Li strongly refuting Bernama’s spin on what he said. How can one trust the BN government if it keeps spreading untruths to the rakyat.

By now, TRH, you should know how our print and electronic media work. They are spin doctors. Whatever you want to say, send it to all the bloggers. Contacting them is a waste of time.

I thought it was a little fishy when I read that Ku Li heaped praises on the new cabinet line up. It figures now.
