Kelantan Umno Youth lodges report against Suara Keadilan

July 7, 2009

KOTA BARU, 7 July 2009: Kelantan Umno Youth today lodged a police report against Suara Keadilan over an alleged article released by the publication under the headline Tiada Bukti (No Evidence): Pakatan Rakyat Youth want charges against Anwar dropped immediately.

Kelantan Umno Youth chief Anuar Safian, who arrived at the Kota Baru police station at 11.15am together with 20 others, claimed that what was reported in the publication was in contempt of court and an insult to the judiciary of the country.

Anuar said the article that appeared on 30 June and 7 July 2009 had urged the court to drop sodomy charges brought up against Anwar Ibrahim due to lack of evidence, and that it was a total disrespect to the laws of the country.

“Nobody should undermine the court of law, and by doing so, they are challenging the integrity and credibility of the court. We want the police to investigate the publication, Angkatan Muda Keadilan, Dewan Pemuda PAS, and Pemuda Sosialis for their involvement,” he said.

Anwar’s case is fixed for trial on 8 July before High Court judge Mohamad Zabidin Mohd Diah. — Bernama
