Dr M begins campaigning (Updated 2.20pm)

By Deborah Loh

April 6, 2009

Updated 2.20pm, 6 April 2009

TAIPING, 6 April 2009: Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad started campaigning for the Barisan Nasional (BN) today, beginning in Bukit Gantang.

Mahathir endorsed Datuk Seri Najib Razak as prime minister and Datuk Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir as the new Perak menteri besar.

He said the BN-installed government in Perak was now a matter of fact and must be accepted unless a court finds it wrong.

The former Umno president returned to Umno as a member on 4 April 2009 after having resigned on 19 May 2008 citing loss of faith in the party’s leadership then under Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

Mahathir had said he would help BN in its campaigning for the Bukit Gantang and Bukit Selambau by-elections which will be held tomorrow.

He is expected to travel to Bukit Selambau this afternoon to campaign there.

Finally Najib “managed” to get his master or sifu moved into the battle ground to combat Anwar.

Through Dr Mahathir, Najib attempts to divert the attention of the people from him to Dr Mahathir. Then, people might think the battle is between Anwar and Dr Mahathir.

Sometimes,a father is willing to pay or settle a debt for his son which is owed to a bank or loan shark.

However, this cannot be applied to a leader. A leader must pay for himself or herself for whatever debt owed to their people.

Kugan really died in a police custody. Nobody can pay the debt for his people by sacrificing their life. But Kugan and Jesus did it.

Che Det or whatever he calls himself. To me, he is a selfish politician and not a statesman like the late Tunku Abdul Rahman. He has no backbone. He says one thing and does another.

In this century, he is lying to the Malay [Malaysians] and some still buy it under so-called “Malay survival”. Don’t tell me, Malay [Malaysians] can’t fend for themselves. Instead of giving encouragement to the Malay [Malaysians], the Umno politicians are trying to put them under a coconut in order to supress them for their own good.

Mahathir should be ashamed of himself after what he has said all the time while fighting Tun Abdullah Badawi. He even instigated Malay [Malaysians] to go against the royals. So, what is he talking about? I heard with my own ears, him telling the folks, ‘Jangan takut, takut apa…” and so on….. I have no more respect for politicians who pit the races [against each other] for their own benefit. Cis!

This is quite a contradiction…Remember what Mahathir said previously: “Umno-Barisan Nasional was too careless and did not wait for an assembly but instead asked the Ruler to sack the Menteri Besar.”

Well, just look at the photos? Click here – http://www.malaysiakini.com/news/101746.

Political party event or government event?

If government event, can talk and bash opposing party coalition? Kalau itu “bukan haram”, then those in power in the four PR states can do the same?

Mahathir setting wrong precedence, as usual?

What a role model for future generations! And yet, going onto the world stage and talking about Bush, Blair, Brown etc as people who misuse power!

    Difficult to comprehend.

In one instance, he preaches and in another he breaches what he preaches. Classic case – originally he said Umno’s takeover of Perak was not proper, but now he says it is ok.

You are not a good example for future genarations.

Time to really retire and ride your horses, Tun.
