BN’s new approach for Manik Urai

June 4, 2009

MUAR, 4 June 2009: The Barisan Nasional (BN) will have only one command centre to coordinate its component parties’ campaigns in the Manik Urai state by-election in Kelantan on 14 July, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said today.

The deputy prime minister said this was part of the BN’s new approach in facing any by-election.

“This is to ensure that all the parties within the BN stay under one roof so that more effective strategies can be coordinated and drawn up,” he told reporters after launching the Friend of the Environment and Smart School award here.

The Manik Urai seat fell vacant following the death of incumbent Ismail Yaacob, 60, of PAS on 22 May 2009. Nomination day is 6 July.

Ismail defeated Mohamed Zulkifli Omar of the BN with a 1,352-vote majority in the 2008 general election.

Muhyiddin said the BN had activated its machinery to get a closer look at the situation in the constituency.

On the BN’s candidate for the by-election, he said Umno was identifying candidates among the locals to pick the most qualified.

“The list is still long. They have not been shortlisted yet,” he said. — Bernama

  1. The People says

    June 4, 2009 at 4:38 pm

This BN just do not get it do they, the public is simply sick of the corruption and their lies … basically, ‘tipu’ their way into power.

The end of BN is near, they cannot change because they need to hold on to power simply to protect themselves from prosecution and nothing more. Definitely, not there for the people or interest of the country.

    Time for change.
