Umno’s tangle over “Allah” (Corrected at1:55pm, 1 April 2011)

WE  had originally published that the High Court lifted the government’s ban against the Catholic church from using “Allah” in its weekly publication Herald in December 2008, and the government filed an appeal against the ruling in January 2009. However, the High Court lifted the ban in December 2009, and the government subsequently filed the appeal in January 2010. We apologise for the error.

The Allah issue is a deliberate attempt to browbeat the non-Malays into submission. Don’t forget the fable of the Arab and the Camel. The Umno-dominated government will be bringing up more issues, each time pushing out the Arab by another bit. Finally the Arab will be pushed out altogether. The non-Malays must make a stand on every issue and prevent the country from sliding into a bigoted Islamic country. Don’t forget we started with a plural society and a secular constitution. The non-Malays must make sure this is not destroyed by the bigots in Umno.

    Fully aggree with orang lama.

The non-Umno BN parties must help the diminishing UMNO to continue to govern Malaysia. Do not let PKR turn Malaysia into a Taliban state. Then it will be too late.
