Lim asks private sector to give workers a break tomorrow

PENANG, 25 Aug 2008: Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng today asked private companies in the state to give their workers a holiday tomorrow to enable eligible voters to cast their ballot in the Permatang Pauh by-election.

“We want to be fair, and under Section 9(1) of the Employment Act, private sector workers required to work tomorrow must be paid overtime,” he told a press conference today.

Yesterday, Lim announced that tomorrow would be state holiday to facilitate voting in the by-election.
