Kedah PAS not seeking Bukit Selambau seat

ALOR SETAR, 16 Feb 2009: Kedah PAS today confirmed that it is not seeking to field a candidate for the Bukit Selambau by-election.

Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azizan Abdul, who is also Kedah PAS commisioner, said Kedah PAS would leave it to the top leadership of the Pakatan Rakyat to decide the best person to take on the Barisan Nasional (BN) in the contest.

“We hope it will be straight fight,” he told reporters after receiving a visit from Kedah DAP chairperson Thomas Su Keong Siong at his office in Wisma Darulaman here.

The seat fell vacant after it assemblyperson V Arumugam of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) quit on 8 Feb.

Nomination is on 29 March and polling on 7 April. — Bernama
