Company owner shot dead by former employee

KAJANG, 18 Feb 2009: A rubber moulding company owner was shot dead by his former worker, a Chinese national, near Bandar Teknologi Kajang here today.

Kajang OCPD ACP Mohd Sakarudin Che Mood said Yap Soon Yen, 41, was having a discussion with one of his workers in his office at 10.30am when the suspect stormed into the room and shot him in the chest at close range.

Police were informed of the incident by Yap’s workers about 15 minutes later.

“Following a public tip-off, a hunt was launched and at about 11.50am police managed to arrest the suspect, in his 40s, in his room in a Baiduri flat. Police also seized a home-made gun from the man,” he told reporters at the scene.

Mohd Sakarudin said Yap, of Bandar Sunway Semenyih, was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Bandar Teknologi Kajang health centre and initial investigation found that the motive might be revenge.

Bernama learnt that the suspect was working in Yap’s company for two months prior to his suspension last year.
