Water supply disruption in parts of Selangor

KUALA LUMPUR, 14 Feb 2009: Several areas in Sepang, Kuala Langat and Hulu Langat experienced water supply disruptions from 9am today due to a damage to the 1,500mm pipeline from Sungai Semenyih to the affected areas.

Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor (Syabas) corporate communications and public affairs general manager Abdul Halem Mat Som said the disruptions affected 86,000 accounts involving 455,000 consumers.

The areas involved in Hulu Langat are Bandar Baru Bangi Seksyen 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 13, 14 and 15, Kampung Teras Jernang, Bandar Bukit Mahkota, Batu 1-6, Kampung Teras Jernang, Bandar Seri Putra, Desa Mahkota, Taman Seri Semenyih, Semenyih Sentral and PATI Semenyih.

In Kuala Langat, the areas affected include Kampung Jenjarom, Kampung Seri Cheeding, Sungai Manggis, Kampung Sungai Kelambu, Pekan Banting, Mukim Bandar Jugra, Kampung Sungai Buaya, Kampung Melayu Pulau Carey and Mukim Morib.

In Sepang, the disruptions affected consumers in Pekan Dengkil, Kota Warisan, Jenderam Hilir, Sungai Buah, Jenderam Hulu, Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi, Pekan Sepang, Pekan Sungai Pelek, Kampung Bukit Bangkong, Kampung Hulu Chuchoh,

Taman Sri Bayu and Bagan Lalang.

Abdul Halem said Syabas had activated its emergency action plan to overcome the problem and send supplies to the affected consumers.
