Puteri pledges to rejuvenate Umno

March 28, 2009

KUALA LUMPUR, 28 March 2009: Puteri Umno has pledged to rejuvenate Umno’s struggle through gracefulness in its approach, said its chief, Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin.

“We are no longer wallflowers. The challenges we had faced since our formation a decade ago were nothing compared to future challenges.

“But this will not deter us from taking steps and drawing up plans to fulfil the national aspirations and the needs of the younger generation,” she said in her winding-up speech at the general assembly here today.

She said Puteri would be graceful but firm in its approach to win the hearts and minds of the people and counter the opposition slender and allegations.

“We are aware of the perception towards Puteri that it is no longer a force to be reckoned with. But we will correct the misconception portrayed by the opposition.

“To check the opposition onslaught, our message is easy… don’t disturb the hornet nest.

“Do not misjudge our gracefulness as a sign of weakness because we will strike back like silat exponents,” she said, adding that the movement would launch its membership drive soon. — Bernama
