“Local factor advantages BN”

By Sharon Tan

April 5, 2009

CHANGKAT JERING, 5 April 2009: Pro-Barisan Nasional (BN) independent state assembly[person] Mohd Osman Jailu contends that the local flavour will help BN’s Ismail Saffian in the fight for the Bukit Gantang parliamentary constituency.

Osman, who won the Changkat Jering state seat in the general elections last year under the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) ticket, said that the fact [that] he was a local helped him win the state seat.

“This is the first time in history that a local has been chosen to represent Bukit Gantang. Even I was the first person from Changkat Jering to win that seat. There were no locals before this,” he said.

“They (PAS) must prove to the voters how Nizar (PAS candidate Datuk Seri Muhammad Nizar Jamaluddin) is going to take care of Bukit Gantang. He is Pasir Panjang assembly[person]. He would have two constituencies to handle while Ismail Saffian is a local.”

Osman also attributed Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s rejoining Umno as an added factor to swing the votes to BN.

A katak opening his mouth talking in dreamland! Wake up!! Being a local frog compared to YB Nizar, it makes no sense considering a local candidate for my vote!

Well, this will be a real test if residents of Bukit Gantang have any nationalistic feelings at all.
