Last ride for two hired killers shot dead by police

November 5, 2008

PUCHONG, 5 Nov 2008: Two Indonesian hired killers-on-wheels linked to several contract murders in the country, rode to their death when the police gunned them down today.

The duo attacked the police after they were cornered and ordered to surrender at the 20km Kampung Tengah about noon. They were then shot dead.

Identified only as Mat Shaari and Andy, the foreigners were linked to the murder of a married couple in Klang on 21 Aug, and another killing last night.

Investigations have revealed that the Indonesians, in their 30s, who were homeless, were also responsible for several other murders.

Selangor police chief Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar said the police were trying to zero in on the individual who had hired them to carry out the contract killings.

“Following the probe into the couple’s murder in Klang, a police team located the foreigners.

“The policemen asked the duo, who were on a motorcycle, to pull over but instead of stopping, they fired three shots at the cops. Police returned fire, killing one of them,” he told reporters at the scene.

Khalid said the other man was also shot dead when he tried to attack the policemen with a machete.

The police chief said Mat Shaari and Andy were responsible for another murder last night, following the discovery of a blood-stained T-shirt, slippers and torch light.

“We suspect the murder victim was thrown into a river as there were tell-tale signs on its banks,” he said, adding that a spent bullet, a .9mm automatic Smith and Wesson pistol and two machetes were found at the scene.

Khalid appealed to those who lost a family member to lodge a police report to facilitate investigations into the case.

“We will continue efforts to find the murder victim and also solve other murder cases involving the two suspects,” he said. — Bernama
