It was a dog, not human remains, says Khalid

December 9, 2008

KUALA LUMPUR, 9 Dec 2008: The body, located this afternoon near the spot where the body of Dr N Yogeswari was found, was actually the remains of a dog.

Selangor Chief Police Officer Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar told a press conference at the site that the rescue team had found the maid’s room and the kitchen but the late vetenarian Yogeswari’s maid had yet to be found.

“We stopped all operations for tonight at 7.20pm. We will resume operations tomorrow morning, as soon as possible and the rescue team will look at other locations, and we will look at a bigger area,” said Khalid.

In an earlier press conference, Khalid had said that another body, whose identity had yet to be ascertained, had been located this afternoon near the spot where the body of Yogeswari, who was killed in the landslide in Bukit Antarabangsa, near here was found on 6 Dec.

Khalid said that the body of a Sri Lankan woman, Lourdes Mary, in her 30s, who was the housemaid of Yogeswari, was still considered to be missing and was not sure whether she was alive or dead.

The rescue team would also strategise for the next line of action tomorrow.

Khalid also confirmed that the earth movement was quite stable and he then advised the residents who needed to retrieve their belongings to be patient and follow the orders given by the authorities.

“Give a chance to those who want to get out. Please don’t be selfish, we need to give and take in this situation. We understand that you need to retrieve your belongings,” advised Khalid. — Bernama
