KUALA LUMPUR, 13 Jan 2009: A police constable told the Magistrate’s Court here today that Parti Keadilan Rakyat information chief Chua Tian Chang, better known as Tian Chua, had spat on his face.
Rosyaidi Anuar, 22, from the Narcotics Division of the Kuala Lumpur Contingent Police Headquarters, said Tian Chua had earlier bitten his left arm, causing injury and a bruise.
“I managed to wiggle out, then Tian Chua spat on my face during the scuffle,” he said.
He was the second witness produced by Deputy Public Prosecutor Lee Keng Fatt in the trial where Tian Chua, 46, was charged with causing injury to a police personnel on duty at the entrance to Parliament Building, Jalan Parlimen, at about 10.45am on 11 Dec 2007.
If convicted, Tian Chua, now Member of Parliament for Batu, can be jailed up to three years or fined or both under Section 332 of the Penal Code.
Rosyaidi said during the incident, he wore a T-shirt.
Earlier, first prosecution witness C/Insp Sazali Ahmad from the Narcotics Crime Investigation Department of the Kuala Lumpur Contingent Police Headquarters said during cross-examination by defence lawyer Razlan Hadri that he did not clearly see the bite mark on Rosyaidi’s arm because it was covered by the T-shirt he was wearing.
“I did not clearly see the bite mark but I only saw a bruise and minor cut as a result of the aggressive act,” he said.
