January 2009

January 8, 2009

Hark: the Herald Corrected on 29 Jan 2009 at 11.40am

We inaccurately described Che Din Yusoh’s position as “Quran Publication Control and Text Division secretary”. It should instead be
“Publications and Quranic Text Control Division secretary”. We apologise for the error.

Kugan’s final journey Corrected on 28 Jan 2009 at 11.30pm

In the caption for picture No.15 in this photo gallery, we mistakenly described Gobind Singh Deo as Kuala Selangor MP. He is the Puchong MP. We apologise for the oversight in writing and editing.

Kugan’s body arrives at police station Corrected on 28 Jan 2009 at 6.10pm

We had inaccurately reported that A Kugan’s body was brought to the Taipan USJ police station, where he had died in police custody, for prayers before the funeral procession moved to Puchong for his burial. The station is the USJ 8 police station. We apologise for the factual error.

On the ceramah trail Corrected on 15 Jan 2009 at 1am

Confused by the different language versions of this DAP election campaign song that was played on a moving vehicle around Kuala Terengganu, the writer made a mistake with the lyrics. He thought the chorus sounded like “Pe-luuuuaaaaang untuk perubahan” but it was actually “Ber-u-baaaaaah untuk Malaysia”. Sorry for the mix-up.

Keeping the BN afloat Corrected on 14 Jan 2009 at 3.30pm

The author had initially written, “Worse still, the MCA, MIC and Gerakan will probably fail to keep the 15 seats they currently hold.” This is incorrect, because the MCA itself has 15 parliamentary seats. The MCA, MIC and Gerakan combined have 20 seats in Parliament. The incorrect figure published was the result of human error, and we sincerely regret it. End of Article

Curtain up in Kuala Terengganu Corrected on 8 Jan 2009 at 7.45am

We mistakenly reported that Umno Youth deputy Khairy Jamaluddin was not present on nomination day for the Kuala Terengganu by-election in support of the Barisan Nasional candidate, Datuk Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh.

We apologise for the error. End of Article
