CY,

I don't see GHTan specifically advocating the use of BM as THE single language to be used. It could be some other language - even Mandarin - as long as it is a single, core language which all Malaysians speak as their preferred tongue.

That said, I agree with his opinion in general. Language, in my opinion, can unite people - if not directly, then indirectly. My experience as a minority in a company where most of the executives were Chinese [Malaysians] tells me this. I have had enough of this, and like many others I am trying my luck overseas.

I do agree with most of your statement, that "Removing race and religion issues from politics, having fair and non-discriminatory policies would have a better chance of uniting the people" except to say that such steps would have a better chance is, in my opinion, completely baseless (but not necessarily untrue).

I thought it was interesting that he pointed out that the black market makes music available that you CANNOT find legally in Malaysia. If we want the fine arts to flourish in our country, we have to make it easier for young people to be exposed to art in general. The modern "Malaysian arts scene" cannot exist in a vacuum.

IMHO, vernacular schools should be phased out eventually, but then Mandarin and Tamil classes in national schools MUST be offered during the school day instead of forcing interested students to come and stay for hours afterwards. Maybe that will encourage students of other ethnicities to learn some Tamil and Mandarin as well.

I hardly think he is a suitable representative of the Chinese Malaysian because of his notoriety. Should not have been featured. Please let us forget about him.

"schools that use different languages as their teaching medium"? Yup, we have that already.

"various markets, and allow diverse cultures to flourish"? Yup, that's happening right now, too.

"oppression of other languages and religions"? Really? We have that in Malaysia? Damn! And I thought everybody was free to do those things.

P.S. I can understand the hatred you have towards authority, you did break the law. Shesh!

Felix, try to understand the message being conveyed through the song being disputed. Have you not purchased a single pirated VCD or DVD before in your lifetime?

GHTan, why didn’t you write in Bahasa Melayu then since you are advocating the use of a single language? Language is a form of communication and doesn’t unite people. Removing race and religion issues from politics, having fair and non-discriminatory policies would have a better chance of uniting the people.

Meng Chee, I must admit you have the guts to say it as it is through your song.

While I do not agree with everything Mr Wee said, at least he had the courage to say it. People should not be so quick to condemn him for his audacity to speak up.

Namewee, you malukan all Malaysian by advocating different languages for our education? We are in Malaysia, you thought we can become like Singapore or HK, or Taiwan? Dream on la. We are Malaysian, and we will be uniquely Malaysia!

How can we stay united and be Malaysian with education that uses different languages?

I say abolish vernacular schools and other foreign languages be an optional course.

Personally, I think this guy should be arrested for selling pirated VCDs. We should not encourage such activities.
