"We are happy to support new creative online industries and the sharing of data which can enhance societal involvement."

Well, why not just pull your finger out, decide what's obviously safe to release into the public domain and publish it as a raw feed while you haggle over the rest? Aiyah, this stuff is so abysmally easy to do, it infuriates me that the Malaysian government is such a terrible obstacle to setting it up.

The reference to 'online industry' is doubly infuriating. It's national data. We paid tax so that they could collect it. Now they want to make some money before they'll give it back? Why not just stop sucking the life-blood out of everything, and just get on with administering the country?! If you allow us to enrich our own lives, we promise to pay more tax!

I like this initiative but I seriously don't see the police sharing their data, if they can even find it in the first place.

Perhaps a LandslideWatch could be made as well?

Wow. This is like diabolical Google Maps.

It's oddly fascinating.

(I see Sabah and Sarawak aren't included. We have no crime! ;p)

Great idea! Not so sure how health data will help, but doing one for the natural environment and meteorological information would be useful! A sort of green map of Malaysia showing the green lungs in towns and the forest cover areas as well as one that gives up to date meteorological information -so we know if we are going to get just a shower or a flood!
