Penang Gerakan Youth wants Guan Eng to explain luxury bungalow

PENANG, 8 July 2009: Penang Gerakan Youth today called on Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng to explain the renting of a luxury bungalow.

The movement’s vice-head, H’ng Khoon Leng, said the explanation would be in line with the concept of “Efficiency, Accountability and Transparency” practised by the state government led by Lim, and that Lim’s avoidance of several questions raised by Gerakan on the matter showed that he was trying to evade the issue.

“Lim had said in a statement that he need not respond to what we had raised because it was a personal matter, and this reflected that the chief minister is arrogant, not transparent, and is trying to avoid petty issues.

“What we raised needs to be answered because it involves the principles of transparency and public expenditure. Don’t the people have the right to know about it?” H’ng said at a press conference here today.

On Monday, it was reported that Gerakan Youth was disappointed with Lim for citing the presence of termites, fire ants and civet cats at his official residence, Seri Teratai, as reasons for his moving into a luxury bungalow.

Consequently, H’ng was reported to have asked for a clarification from Lim on when the chief minister had decided to move out of his official residence; the date of the deposit payment for renting the luxury bungalo; and to show the rental agreement letter and the duration of the agreement.

Gerakan Youth was also reported to have asked for an explanation on the massive renovation works on the bungalow, including the cost, who paid for the renovation, and when Lim would move back to Seri Teratai. — Bernama

A very stupid statement by Penang Gerakan Youth.

  2. Eric says:

Wayang, wayang. Why can’t Gerakan (and Bernama) tell us more about quarries, Penang’s High Chaparral, etc., rather than bungalow rentals?

Helllo, H’ng, you have nothing better to do, is it? You mean every time you ask petty questions, the CM needs to answer you? Learn to be a responsible person in contributing to the welfare of the Penang’s poor and needy. Don’t have sour grapes when your party’s strength is weaker now.

  4. Half Truth says:

Gerakan Youth barking at wrong tree again. Please bark at your KTK for the Kampung Pala issue. Pressurise KTK to reveal the truth on Kg Pala issue without fear or favour. This is what we call barking at the right tree, and a true leader who fears nobody but upholds the truth.

Gerakan Youth: Please try and focus on people’s issues.

Why not you guys do something to help the Kg Buah Pala residents?

You know, if you help out and are successful, that will be a fantastic feather in your cap.

But you guys now want to play politics only!
