Nik Aziz calls for boycott of US, Israeli goods

KOTA BARU, 9 Jan 2009: Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat today called on the people to support the boycott of goods from the US and Israel as a mark of protest against the regime’s invasion of Palestine.

He said the people should also stop using the US currency in their business dealings.

“Effective today, we don’t buy their products and also don’t use the American dollar in business transactions,” he said in his weekly religious talk here.

Nik Aziz said it was time for the world community to teach the super power a lesson for its arrogance and pressure on Muslim countries, especially its cruelty to the Palestinians.

Later, he launched a collection for the Palestine Fund and then joined in a show of protest against the US and Israel by stepping on the posters and burning the effigies of US president George W Bush and Israeli prime minister Ehud Olmert. — Bernama
