Bagan Pinang by-election on 11 Oct

PUTRAJAYA, 14 Sept 2009: The Election Commission today set 11 Oct for the by-election for the Bagan Pinang state seat in Negeri Sembilan.

Chairperson Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof said nomination day was fixed for 3 Oct. The writ would be issued today and the notice would be issued tomorrow.

“The electoral coll consists of 13,664 registered voters, comprising 9,060 ordinary voters and 4,604 postal voters,” he said at a press conference at the EC Headquarters here today.

Of the total number of registered voters, 8,577 or 62.77% are Malay Malaysian , 2,834 or 20.74% Indian Malaysian, 1,498 or 10.96% Chinese Malaysian, and 755 or 5.54% comprise others.

The Bagan Pinang state seat fell vacant following the death of its incumbent assemblyperson, Azman Mohammad Noor, from the Barisan Nasional, on 4 Sept. — Bernama
