Actor pleads not guilty to stealing books

KUALA LUMPUR, 14 May 2009: An actor of the Gerak Khas drama series, “Detektif Lim”, changed his plea in the Magistrate’s Court here today and claimed trial to stealing two books worth RM194.90 at Mid Valley last month.

Farid Amirul Hisham Abdullah, 43, is alleged to have stolen the books, Sistine Secrets costing RM89.90 and Decoding The Heavens (RM105) at the MPH bookstore in Mid Valley at 7.15pm on 27 March.

He pleaded guilty on 8 April and was to have been sentenced today.

The charge carries a maximum 10 years’ jail and a fine on conviction.

Magistrate Mohd Faizi Che Abu allowed bail of RM1,500 with one surety and fixed 18 June for trial.

Farid Amirul was represented by counsel Nor Azri Mohd Arif while deputy public prosecutor Mohd Mukhzany Fariz Mohd Mokhtar appeared for the prosecution. — Bernama
